Siltt
Polders in the coastal areas of the Netherlands suffer from salinization. This is undesirable at the moment because it makes current agricultural production more difficult. To counter this, a large amount of fresh water is needed to pump the silt water out of the polder. However, due to climate change, less fresh water is available to combat salinization, which is detrimental to the production of current agriculture. With this challenge we want to turn this problem into a solution.
Siltt wants to contribute to a new form of agriculture, which can adapt and mitigate the degree of salinization of the soil, surface, and groundwater. The solution of Siltt is to create a closed silt water system in polders in the coastal areas of the Netherlands to enable silt farming. This can be accomplished by using silt groundwater seepage. By subtracting this water from a siltwater bubble it can be used for silt agriculture. This prevents drought, unwanted silt seepage in other areas and creates opportunities for climate-resistant agriculture.
