UT Challenge 2021
Every year, since the first edition in 2017, the UT Entrepreneurial Challenge has offered students the opportunity to further develop their own, ingenious ideas, prototypes and research projects into business plans, minimal viable products and start-ups.
The main purpose and mission is to challenge students to create great, out-of-the-box, innovative solutions to societal problems and to translate them into real products and business plans, while incorporating the expertise that our innovative and knowledgeable partners share with them during the challenge.
The UT Challenge has grown into a platform that every student can benefit from. In previous editions, hundreds of students have developed ideas and prototypes, drawn up business plans and exchanged valuable knowledge with the (local) business community, with regard to important societal themes.
In close collaboration with University of Twente, Student Union, Novel-T, NIKOS and Designlab the 5th edition of the UT Challenge will be organized this year. Many new partners have joined our network and are eager to work with UT-students on successful innovations and start-ups. We are looking forward to organising the next edition in collaboration with the University of Twente and our partner network and making the UT Challenge 2021 another big success!
In addition to this Challenge for students at the University of Twente, the other three technical universities in The Netherlands organise similar competitions. Teams from TU Delft, WUR, TU/e, and UT get the chance to compete in the national finals of the Dutch 4TU Impact Challenge. More information will be provided via our website and social media channels, as the challenges proceeds.

COMPETITION
Share your idea with us! Participate either alone or in a team. Create an account and start making use of the platform. Interact with the network and visit workshops and speed dating events. Pitch your idea, show off your prototype and test your business canvas with experts and potential lead customers and suppliers. Sign up now and take the first steps on your way from idea to prototype to world market.
CHALLENGING BUSINESS CASES
After the UT Challenge our partner network has the opportunity to invite you to work on a business case of their own. Helping a company find a solution is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and fresh insights. These business cases will be solved by a team of selected students within one day in an online environment or if possible at the location of the partner.
CAREER
Are you looking for an internship, traineeship or perhaps a job? You can easily make this known to the diverse partner network of the UT Challenge by uploading your C.V. and share it directly with partners of your choice, while being notified about interesting career opportunities.
Awards 2020
Besides online and offline coaching of our business network, developing your personal skills and many opportunities for networking, there are of course also great prizes to win! For the fourth edition of the UT Entrepreneurial Challenge the following prizes were available. These may differ in 2021 but can be used as an indication for what you can expect to win. Remember: even though we have winners, there are no losers!
Audience Prize
The Audience Prize is awarded to the team/project with the most votes of the viewers at the event final. It is worth € 1.500,-
ASML Makers Award
Started by ASML, this award aims to help startups in the market industry and to give them a platform to realise their goals. Total worth € 2.500,-
Ideation category Prize
The name of the prize says it all. Projects in the Ideation category compete for this prize. When the jury selects the winner, they will take home € 3.000,- worth.
Prototyping category Prize
Competing in the prototyping category? You will compete in the final for € 4.000,- to kickstart your idea.
Start-up category Prize
Projects in the Start-up category are (almost) ready to hit the market. To congratulate the winner of this category and help the project on the way, € 5.000,- are available.
