Almost half of all the fruit and vegetables produced are wasted, meaning millions of tons that could end on people in need, and millions lost in the economy. One of the problems that contributes with this disturbing fact is the food discrimination. Most fruit/veggie selection is based on how it looks and how much it could last before it gets rotten, meaning in tons of perfect eatable goods not selected. There is no system to give an incentive to the customer to buy these discriminated foods neither to detect on time what could not to be selected by the customer.

Applying computer vision and Artificial Intelligence create a system/smart scale that could be installed on the markets and easily use by the retail sellers that could determine a fair price or discount based on quality/time before getting rotten of the fruit or vegetable selected by the customer. In that way give cheaper options to the low-income people and incentive the purchase of this kind of food, meaning in less waste for the merchandiser and more selling. Alternatively, research and develop vision systems for the supply chain to optimize their distribution (areas are selecting the discriminated food) and do quality inspection.
