Cool Meesje

We would like to address the problem of the oak procession caterpillars (Eikenprocessierups) using ecological solutions that are low maintenance and sustainable. Previous attempts to attract birds that eat the caterpillars have only had limited success due difficulties in attracting the birds.

Cool Meesje Bird Houses have the primary goal of attracting Great Tits (Koolmees). We will research how to effectively attract these birds by continuously monitoring the bird houses, by incorporating sensors into the houses and/or by trialing different bird house designs. In addition we will source bird houses from sustainable materials.
